The right New Year’s Eve look won’t just end your 2015 on a high note. It’ll also kick off your 2016 in style. Whether you’re doing something ritzy on a rooftop or risqué in a dive bar, it’s the opportune moment for incorporating silver and gold underwear into your wardrobe. Metallics are always appropriate for a NYE event. And like the best things in life, they’re better in moderation.
Silver and gold pieces make an impact no matter where they’re incorporated in a look. It can be a heavy hit from a slick silver blazer, or it can be more subtle in the form of gold bling on your wrist. So long as you don’t look like The Tin Man. But when it comes to silver and gold underwear, you’re given a free pass to have as much flashy fun as you want.
Entirely metallic pairs still use their flash sparingly, because they’re your underwear and by no means the focal point of your style. (Unless, of course, you’re spending NYE at an underwear party.) You could easily wear silver and gold underwear beneath a suit. Or if that’s too much, a metallic waistband will still do the trick.
That being said, we know there are men where silver and gold underwear isn’t really their style. They like their metallic accents to come in the form of masculine accessories, and that’s totally okay. For these guys we would recommend matte versions of silver and gold – handsome greys and deep, goldenrod yellows.
These solid takes on silver and gold underwear read more casually than their metallic cousins. You could wear them on any given day, and certainly NYE. They have more staying power in your personal underwear collection. But on the flip side, metallic has more fun. Either way, you won’t go wrong in the 9 pairs featured in our exclusive photoshoot below, modeled by Cory Kuehn.
