Men’s fashion is ever evolving yet have you ever been let down by the progress of the fashion and practicality of an undershirt? For instance, shouldn’t most mens undershirts remain undershirts, not noticeable when you are wearing a dress shirt to an important function or date? No one wants to be the guy sporting unwanted undershirt seams or a clashing white when one button is unbuttoned.
In 2005, Jesse Szynal, a chemical engineering graduate, saw this problem in men’s fashion and decided to do something about it. “What’s the point of an undershirt when you can still see the collar underneath a button down shirt,” posed Szynal. “Most guys have to wear undershirts to keep their dress shirts dry, but you’ll be the dryest guy around.”
What began as a hobby in 2005 became a full time job for the fashion industry entrepreneur. Collected Threads is ran by a small team, but a team that has the confidence that their product will make you confident.Through the years, he learned the ins and outs of producing a product that is both fashionable and high quality. “The typical undershirt doesn’t have fashion in mind. We want our undershirts to be on the same level as men’s fashion.”
Since its original development, the 100% combed cotton jT undershirt has gone under various stages of reconstruction to fulfill wearers’ wants and needs. The sewn-in label has been removed and replaced with a tagless label. The fabric has been slimmed around the waist to defeat bunching and it has been lengthened to stay in place. Most recently, the brand has released two new colors to accompany the white jT; the additional color options come in grey and black.
Collected Threads has five new looks in the works: the jT-V, jT Modal, jT Thermal, jT Compression, and the jT Tank. All styles can be hidden below two shirt buttons, are tuck-able, and luxuriously soft. The jT Modal is made up of 95% micro modal and 5% spandex, ensuring a super soft feel that forms to your body. The jT Compression is made up of 80% combed cotton and 20% spandex. It improves posture and firms/smooths out typical problem areas. “The jT is more than an undergarment. It’s confidence. It’s knowing that, whatever your level of fashion, the jT just improved and protected it,” Szynal said.
