London Fashion Week Underwear Round-Up

London Fashion Week Underwear Round-Up

If there’s one fashion capital known for being a little out there, it’s London. Young designers trained, and sometimes not trained, come out of creative schools pushing boundaries and perceptions, all for the sake of self-expression. This season at London Fashion Week, at least for some designers, the best mode of expression was with a slight peek at underwear waistbands.

If it sounds a little “basketball shorts and hoodies to you,” it’s because it is. At least for Shaun Samson who showed a palette of pale pinks, greys, whites and blacks. Sweatpants and oversized shorts hung low on the waist exposing a few inches of white boxers with black waistbands.

Black waistbands in a sea of pink, black and white did happen to be a thing though. Nasir Mazhar proposed the same sort of aesthetic, sending down grey sweatshirts – they call them jumpers on their side of the pond – with low hanging shorts. Though he chose to get a little experimental with styling, opting for knee braces and shirts tied in the front, the athletic and utilitarian basis is still there.

Astrid Andersen went a step further opting for a lighter palette, florals and lace. It’s not your run-of-the-mill menswear collection. Meggings and long underwear complete looks that include athletic shorts, windbreakers and sandals.
