Let the wine flow! The emergence of wine colors on the runway is nothing new, however, dusky red and purple hues have been showing up in menswear at an increasing rate this season. Colors including copper, brick, garnet, ruby, burgundy, raspberry, cherry and everything in between have made their way into a multitude of collections this season. Male celebrities have also been rocking the wine suit lately, including Neil Patrick Harris, Liam Hemsworth and Don Jon star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
While we’ve spotted wine colors making a resurgence in our outer layers of clothing, we have also witnessed this intoxicating trend trickle down to underwear brands. In a season where black and white underwear generally dominates, the bold, saturated wine colors are a great way to infuse some life into your undergarments. This is also a much toned down style from the bright pinks we saw trending over the summer.
Both MeUndies Raspberry brief and Bond’s Stretchy Chest in Tuscan Red looks to be drawing its grape tone inspiration from the Loire Valley in France; mostly known for its Rosé, you’ll find peace while wearing this pair of underwear and sipping a glass of the valley’s best.
Or taken from the ruby grapes that are found in a mellow Cabernet, the Hanro Ruby color update is available in many collections like the Shadow, Cotton Superior, Fancy Woven and Micro Touch ranges.
Brands including Mack Weldon, Calvin Klein, Frank Dandy, Bjorn Borg and Diesel made spotting this trend even easier with underwear in Burgundy, Cabernet, and Tawny Port.
