For more than 15 years, May 18 has marked the annual observance of World AIDS Vaccine Day (also known as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day), to recognize and emphasize continuing research efforts for finding a vaccine to prevent the spread of HIV/ AIDS.
A number of underwear brands have taken efforts to raise awareness and lend support to communities effected by the epidemic, including sending out condoms with each pair sold, and donating a portion of profits to related charitable organizations.
Check out the brands we’re spotlighting for their healthy underwear practices, and let us know if you come up with more ideas for how underwear companies can help support a worthy cause!

Andrew Christian: Earlier this year, Andrew Christian partnered with Wet personal lubricant and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to distribute nearly 27,000 condoms with special pairs of Andrew Christians. The shipments also included an informational card from AHF on joining the “New Sexual Revolution,” which is about respecting yourself and your partner through safe sex practices. Of initiating the collaboration , Andrew Christian said, “Last year Andrew Christian’s marketing campaigns went viral due to our extremely sexual videos. Using that sexual attention to our advantage, we feel like now is the perfect time to reinforce the importance of safer sex to our fans and community.
MeUndies: This Los Angeles based brand began including condoms with underwear shipments as a special surprise for its customers. Greg Fass, the brand’s head of marketing told The Underwear Expert, “Our whole brand philosophy is that we want to change the way people shop for basic apparel. So this whole idea […] brought us to giving out something as fun and different as condoms. We’ve sent out other promotional items but we found that [condoms are] the perfect addition to our packaging, and it has really helped us to develop a kind of cult following.“
Papi: This year Papi released a special Pride collection in support of LGBT pride events around the world, which includes a colorful range of styles featuring pride’s signature rainbow colors. In addition to their special collection of products, the brand sponsors fundraisers for gay pride events. Papi recently partnered with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, the world’s largest multimedia global HIV/ AIDS prevention campaign that challenges stigma and discrimination while empowering young people to protect themselves.
Bayou Beau: This Texas-based brand commits to helping those in need by donating percentage of profits from one of its collections to organizations that promotes pride, education, and support to the local LGBT community. Charities supported by Bayou Beau work towards awarding scholarships to LGBT students, raising HIV/ AIDS awareness, and promoting social equality.
