Modus Vivendi’s Denim Fetish Line

Modus Vivendi, the underwear brand from Greek fashion designer Christos Bibitsos, doesn’t, as a rule, embrace subtlety in their designs. More fetish than function, they oft incorporate zippers, drawstrings, and out of the box inspiration into their underwear. For their latest collection, they’ve taken a page from the annals of American history and released denim briefs, boxers and jockstraps in a nod to the American cowboy.

Denim Underwear

In case you haven’t heard, denim is on its way back in. Okay, so maybe it never fully left us, but denim (more so than any other fabric) seems to travel through the ins and outs of fashion with every passing year. Last year it was denim jackets and denim accents galore. Now we are once again seeing the denim vests that were iconic of the early 90s. There is also a new development in denim. You guessed it: Denim Underwear. No, seriously, it’s a real thing. In fact, denim underwear is showing up on men, women, and everyone in between.

Underwear is just as much an expression of personal style as the clothes on your back or the jewelry around your neck, and since denim is back in style, denim underwear is on the rise. There are two types of denim underwear that exist today, and distinguishing the two will help you decide where you fit in.

First, it is important to know that denim (in the traditional sense) is interwoven sheets of cotton and twill dyed indigo. And if you want to feel the strength and endurance of this sturdy material on your bare bum, then you need to buy denim underwear comprised of actual denim (the material). Rufskin has real denim underwear in a variety of styles. Your other option is to buy regular cotton (or other material underwear) that is stylized to appear like denim jeans. So basically, it’s dyed blue and given fake pockets and buttons. Diesel, Sly, and Good Devil all make mock denim underwear.
