Actor and entertainer Mario Lopez partnered with Mad Projects Industries LLC, an apparel company, to launch Rated M, a new brand of underwear. Hitting stores in 2011, Rated M Underwear bills itself as being “For Manful Men and their Very Special Guests.”
The Mario Lopez Underwear range consists of three collections–Play, Atelier and Elementary–that will be updated seasonally with new colors. Rated M Underwear consists of various styles that include:
Elementary is made of a special blend of cotton, polyester and spandex and offers a flattering fit. This collection of briefs and boxer briefs features an engineered “M” fly and metallic jacquard waistband while the tank tops and T-shirts have a distinctive embroidered crown logo on the shoulder.
Play is a luxury athletic range made from a special anti-bacterial combination of mesh and single knit jersey, which will keep you clean, odorless and dry while you workout. The range includes flat lock stitching for comfort and high tech silicone printed logo. The collection consists of trunks, cycle shorts, singlets, muscle T-shirts and V-neck t-shirts.
Atelier offers a special blend of cotton, modal and spandex. Available as briefs and trunks, the collection boasts an engineered “M” fly and an attention-grabbing waistband with Rated M Underwear’s tagline, “For Manful Men and their Very Special Guests,” printed across.
Launching the Mario Lopez Underwear line was a “dream” come true for the TV personality. “It was always a dream of mine to get into the apparel business,” Lopez told Women’s Wear Daily. “I didn’t know how to begin, but I knew everybody needs underwear, so that was a good place to start. [I wanted the brand to be] fun, funny, sexy and a quality product at an affordable price. I’m a former inner-city kid and I knew Rated M would resonate with a young crowd, either Latinos or across the board.”
