Review: Icebreaker Anatomica Boxers Stripe

The Junk Underjeans Brief Update

Item Reviewed: Icebreaker Anatomica Boxers Stripe

About the product: The Icebreaker Anatomica Boxers Stripe brief provides full coverage in a grey striped fabric made of wool merino and 5% Lycra.  The wool fabric has slight stretch and provides cool comfort and moisture wicking.  All of the seams are flatlock stitched.  The waistband is one inch of elastic in white with the Icebreaker name and a stripe in grey.  The wool is grown sustainably in New Zealand and the underwear made in China.

What we like: The merino is a natural wool fiber and provides good moisture control.  After several washings, the material got softer and became ‘broken in’ making these a favorite.  The off center, curved seam provides an adequate pouch with double layered fabric. Icebreaker promotes their sustainability, including the ability to trace your ‘BaaCode’ and see where the wool in your underwear was grown on their website.  This is a unique way to connect you and your underwear back to the farm.

What we don’t like: These are undoubtedly comfortable, but the loose boxer brief cut and somewhat dated striped styling make these more likely to reside at the back of the drawer until your next outdoor trip.

When we’d wear them: Under your favorite pair of shorts on an overnight hiking trip at the lake.

Who we’d recommend them to: Outdoor guides who rely on traditional fabrics such as the merino wool for all day moisture control and comfort.

Describe these underwear in three words: Wool, Broken In, Hiking
