Not all pairs of hiking performance underwear are created equal. Depending on the activity, weather conditions and the physique of the man, certain pairs are more suitable than others. Designs with longer leg lengths and/or insulating fabric blends are ideal as pairs of hiking performance underwear. Hiking can be intense and leave you walking home with legs of lead. Or it can be relaxing, a retreat into the woods with no intention of breaking a sweat. Either way, warmth and support are a must for keeping your legs comfortable in motion.
Model Bryan Cummins takes a hike with photographer Jerrad Matthew for his latest Underwear Expert exclusive photo shoot. He captures Bryan in six different pairs of hiking performance underwear, four of which are designed with longer legs to prevent the underwear from riding up your thigh. The Cocksox CXA93N Long Leg Boxers is the most full-coverage design featured. Made from 92% Supplex and 8% Lycra, it has a body-hugging fit while remaining breathable and moisture wicking. Polyester and Tencel are also moisture wicking materials and compose most of the featured Wood and Freedom Reigns pairs, respectively. And while Wood also brings longer legs to the mix, the Freedom Reigns Pump Sport Trunk has a narrow cut and more leg room, albeit with less moisture wicking support.
Aside from the trunk, N2N’s Campfire Thermal Brief is the only other look not designed with longer legs. The brief cut sacrifices a more insulating design, but it makes up for it with a 100% cotton construction. This achieves generally the same effect as the other pairs modeled by Bryan. Each keeps you warm and works to prevent overheating. Take the path less hiked and opt for something stylish, even if no one is around and you’re lost in the woods.
