Pistols are difficult enough by forcing you to lift your body weight with a single leg. In this Instagram video, Go Green demonstrates pistols while holding onto a kettlebell. The added resistance makes it more difficult to balance than anything, which still keeps the exercises’ focus on your legs. The kettlebell will also test your arm strength.
The main thing to take away from Go Green’s demonstration is how he holds the kettlebell with the same hand as the leg he is squatting on. This way, he can extend the other arm and leg during each repetition for the proper form and balance. We would advise that you be comfortable doing a normal pistol squat before adding any extra resistance.
