We’re starting a new series on The Underwear Expert called Editor’s Pick this month. It seemed like a no-brainer to us. There is a lot of underwear out there, and even the team at The Underwear Expert can admit that, after days of curating underwear, some start to blur together. Maybe you already know your favorite brand for basic trunks, or your go-to style for when you know you’ll be getting laid. But whether you do or not, the stream of new men’s underwear is endless.
This new segment will take you straight to a brand’s best looks. We don’t judge against the style, or even whether the piece is technically “underwear” or not. We would choose a hoodie if it was worthy. Essentially, we are looking at the style and the cut, the fabrics, and how we’d wear the piece during the current fashion season. And for our premier edition, we kick things off with Swedish brand Bread & Boxers.
Editor’s Pick: Bread & Boxers Henley – black ($38)
Why We Love It: The neckline is what every henley is all about, and the Bread & Boxers henley has a great one. For a more modern look, the neck is designed with a rounded hem and, unlike most henleys, without buttons.
The henley is part of the brand’s lounge collection, but with its stylish fit and comfortable fabric (60% cotton, 40% poly), we can picture wearing this henley a lot during the fall.
Why It’s Our Editor’s Pick: Bread & Boxers has underwear basics down to a science. Their looks are all modern takes on classics and each has a sense of refinement. So much so that we almost hate to call their products “basics.” That is why we love to dip into their lounge collection. And a nice, sharp-looking henley is something a man can never go wrong with.
How We’d Wear It: Pairing a black henley is easy. Go with some dark denim and don’t be afraid to break away from blue. A dark green chino pant wouldn’t look bad either.
Other Favorites: V-neck relaxed – black ($28), Brief – grey mélange ($18)
