Trend Story: Floral Underwear

Who could forget Meryl Streep’s  brilliant performance of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada? As the brutal editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, Priestly knows fashion, what’s in, and most importantly — style. (She also knows how to make everyone around her completely miserable.) One of her finest moments is during a trend update in which she deadpans the lines, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Well, it’s a shame Ms. Priestly isn’t around right now because we’re about to show you how florals can be — that’s right — groundbreaking, thanks to some of our favorite underwear brands.

We’re not sure about you, but over at The Underwear Expert, we’re 100% ready to launch out of this polar vortex, and this trend is just the thing to beat those winter blues. There’s nothing like a breeze-y, tropics-inspired pair of undies to get you amped about the warm months ahead. Not convinced? Feast your eyes on these two briefs: American Apparel’s Floral Print Baby Rib and Bodyaware’s Tropical Punch. They’re sure to get you dreaming about summer vacation — or just a mini weekend island getaway (you deserve it!).

Longing for the surf? We don’t blame you. Some of the best designs this coming season are featured on swimwear, such as aussieBum’s Palm and Mavericks prints, or Intymen’s Floral and Flowers Swim Bikinis. If you want the best of both worlds, Stonemen makes a great surf-inspired pair of underwear, Trunk Hibiscus. Designed by artist Shane Martin, this trunk will have you ready for the beach in no time.

For more classic floral prints, look no further than Mundo Unico’s Sensacion Trunk, Jor’s Hawaii Boxer, J. Crew’s Floral Boxer, or Sleepy Jones’ Jasper Tailored Boxer in Navy Liberty Floral. Frank Dandy’s Hayman Trunk is for the bold at heart, and Freegun’s Premium Boxer Gan is perfect for those of you who are not afraid to make a statement. Muchachomalo carries a more subdued, vegetal print in black and electric blue, and Sly’s Lotus is ideal if you’re just looking to chill out by the coast.

And for your feet? Happy Socks has a rose print to keep your toes, well, happy.

As you can see, there’s truly something for every man this season where floral prints are concerned. Eat your heart out, Miranda Priestly. Check out the shop links below, and let us know which pairs you’ll be rocking this year in the comments or by tweeting @underwearexpert.
