#TUXThrowback: Jim Palmer’s Jockey Underwear Campaign

It’s Throwback Thursday on The Underwear Expert. Today, we are looking back at a vintage underwear campaign for Jockey featuring veteran baseball player Jim Palmer.

The editorial shows how Jockey has kept its classic y-front through the years. It also shows how our male concept of beauty has changed. When you compare Jim Palmer to an Andrew Christian model, the differences are drastic. We feel that the baseball player fits in with our favorite Movember hairy underwear models.

    Yeah, I wear most wear Jockey boxers, from BJ’s.  Jim Palmer was like the handsome all-American jock with a brain.  There was once a shot of him, in Sports Illustrated I think, stretching out, in his baseball uniform, in white socks.  That eye candy was made a permanent impression.

    I used to travel with Jim Palmer when he was the Jockey spokesman for 20 years. The last thing we did together were in store appearances back in the mid 90s– at that point people either thought he was a golfer or the Money Store guy…
