Inspired by European craftsmanship and constructed in the United States, the newest American underwear brand to hit the market is Charles van der Pear. Founded by newly transplanted New Yorker, Karl van der Paer, the premier collection of 12 striped and checkered boxers pays homage to his new, beloved city. Each design within the collection is named after a New York City neighborhood or street such as SoHo, Upper West and Christopher.
Van der Paer wanted to introduce upscale and finely tailored undergarments to men who take pride in every article of clothing they own, but also know how to have some fun. Made with a lightweight woven cotton shirting fabric, which the brand states, “is the world’s most comfortable and best-fitting boxer short.” Influenced by a Dutch-Belgian heritage, every boxer is structured with a seven piece fabrication intermingled with modern technology such as an inner liner for the same support a brief or boxer brief provides. The lightweight cotton shorts are slim fitting so that they don’t bunch up in the back and the waistband has two adjustable buttons that can either be tightened or loosened.
Van der Paer believes that a man’s daily choice of underwear should be just as important as the suit he picks, which we here at The Underwear Expert agree with wholeheartedly. The brand exists in a small but growing realm of men’s fashion that proves how the luxurious boxer short is the ideal choice for the modern gentleman. Life’s too short to waist time in a pair of poorly made underwear; we know it, Charles van der Pear knows it, and you should too.
The twelve looks come in several different striped and checkered patterns and are available in sizes S-XXL. We want to hear your thoughts on the brand new New York City based luxury boxers by commenting below or tweeting @underwearexpert.
