St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that anyone anywhere in the world can take part in, right? Wear green, drink green beer, make leprechaun jokes and be happy? Yep, anyone can do that. Before you celebrate, however, you’re going to need to do some prep work. Being the underwear connoisseur you are, it’s important to put your green foot forward this St. Patrick’s Day and make your own green underwear (because what’s a St. Pat’s party if you don’t have green underwear on?) Yes, you can buy your green underwear too, but DIY stuff is just so fun.
But how do I make green underwear you ask? It’s quite simple, good friend. You obtain the following ingredients, watch our dye master Adam Cook walk you through the steps for making green underwear above, and then you make them at home. All you need is 60 minutes to do the dyeing, a few supplies, and a day or so to hang dry your new green undies!
Green Underwear Supplies:
White Cotton Underwear
Green Dye (We recommend the Procion MX Dye, Bright Green 097.)
Cold Tap Water
Something to Stir With
Green Underwear Directions:
Place your white, cotton underwear in a bucket.
Fill bucket with cold, tap water.
Add 2 cups plain salt to water.
Add 1 tablespoon green dye to water.
Stir for 20 minutes.
Add 1/4 cup Soda Ash to water slowly, continue stirring.
Stir occasionally for 50 minutes.
Rinse with cold, tap water.
Wash in sink, hang dry.
That’s it! It’s that easy and as you’ll see in the video, super effective and pretty non-messy. Will you be dyeing your underwear green for this St. Patrick’s Day? Send us your pics! You can share them here.
Sláinte, friends, and stay safe this St. Patrick’s Day!
