Linus Gustin is a top model from Sweden with sharp cheek bones, youthful eyes, sandy blond hair and rosy lips. He’s also the new face of John Galliano. Wearing a brief and a boxer brief with a newspaper print (a reoccurring theme in Galliano’s work), Gustin shows off the new offerings from John Galliano’s spring/summer 2013 line. As would be expected, Gustin has already had a history of successful work before becoming the next John Galliano model. He has been a runway model for several high profile brands including Salvatore Ferragamo and Thom Browne.
John Galliano was the head designer of Givenchy for a year before taking over Christian Dior in 1996. At Dior, Galliano became an influential figure in the fashion world. His designs became famous for their theatrical flair and feminine aesthetics.
Galliano was dismissed from Dior after an infamous anti-semitic rant for which he later apologized. Bill Gaytten, a longtime member of Galliano’s close inner circle, has been the creative director of the John Galliano brand since 2011. Galliano is now allegedly taking up some space in Oscar de la Renta’s atelier, however, signaling a move in the fashion industry to let the once blacklisted designer return to doing what he does best.
