New York Fashion Week is in full swing which means that the industry has compiled their show packages which highlight the models they’d like to appear in the week’s events. They’ve obviously already been circulated among fashion houses, but thanks to Homorazzi, we’ve got our hands on one of the them; it features a wealth of comp cards with guys in vintage underwear ads type photos for you to troll through. The cards, featuring models from Re:Quest Model Management, are a throwback to Calvin Klein Underwear’s banned (and therefore infamous) vintage underwear ads from the 1990s. Check them out below and then see the original banned ads after the jump.
The banned vintage underwear ads we’re talking about, by the way, are a must-watch and give you a taste of how a porn casting couch session may have gotten started back in the day. Yes, they’re that creepy. In the short clips [compiled below], you’ll hear a casting director asking probing questions, making the models visibly awkward. The vintage underwear ads, shot by photographer Steven Meisel, were pulled for the obvious casting couch context soon after their release.
Re:Quest Model Management obviously knows a good theme when they see one. They frame their oft tattooed models against a wood paneling background similar to the one in the banned Calvin Klein vintage underwear ads; the result: sex-infused photos of today’s up and coming models that will leave you thinking twice about snubbing this week’s New York Fashion Week events. Which of the vintage underwear inspired photos above, taken by Stefani Pappas, is your favorite?
