After a recent soccer goal in a match against Portugal, Danish soccer star Nicklas Bendtner pulled his shirt up and dropped trou. What, to an outsider, might seem like a strange celebratory technique, was in fact a violation of established endorsement deals, league officials claim. The problem lies in the waistband of Bendter’s briefs, which read “Paddy Power”… the name of an Irish betting firm.
Association spokesman Lars Berendt told The Associated Press on Thursday that the Danish Football Association has “an exclusive deal” with another gambling company, “and this is obviously a breach of it.”
What punishments the league or it’s endorsers might enforce for the pants drop, remains unclear.
