The Look: Athletic, professional, serious. This highlighter-yellow performance boxer brief sports vein-like stitching along the sides, which, while running, mimics the rivulets of sweat that the fabric wicks away from your body. The on-the-thinner-side waistband smartly tops the curving lines below while echoing the adidas three-bar logo with three thin bands extending to each side, almost like wings. You won’t look like an amateur with these on.
The Fit: Close to perfection. Supportive while not being constricting, light and breathable but still strong. This athletic underwear is flexible, supple, and feels virtually weightless. However, the legs were loose enough to make us worry about exposing something while doing high kicks or certain Yoga poses.
The Construction: High quality. No loose threads, no imprecise stitches, and clear technological capacity banding with adidas’s top-notch manufacturing capacity. The polyester/spandex blend is given a battery of treatments to keep you cool, dry and odor free. The anatomically-designed pouch kept things in place while running, and the ventilation and wicking fabric really did make a difference in performance.
The Underwear Expert Opinion: A strong new challenger in the athletic wear market. Lighter than comparable athletic underwear with the same sort of textile technology, the Sport Performance Flex is a real winner. adidas makes your shoes, socks and shorts already, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that this is a sector they would excel in. The clear superiority in almost all categories is a positive development for the industry. Recommended to the committed athlete almost without qualifications.
