Dolce & Gabbana debuted their Fall & Winter 2012/13 menswear collection in Milan on Saturday. The setting? A make believe opera house complete with the voice of Pavarotti and the extravagant chandeliers reminiscent of the gilded age. Does the fashion house knows something about the future of the economy that we don’t?
The collection included evening coats and capes, gold brocade jackets, and underwear, with opulent gold embroidery.
Living somewhere between ornate and old fashioned, the collection is a welcome distraction from the dismal winter weather, and the ongoing financial crisis.
“In order to sell well today, a collection has to have the whiff of an old-fashioned trunk,” Stefano Gabbana told the Associated Press.
