Model turned photographer Anibal Velasquez has been lending Malebasics his eye for many of their recent photo shoots.
Since he started out as a model, Velasquez has a major advantage when it comes to underwear campaigns, because he knows how the industry is run and operated; he also incorporates graphic design elements into his finished photos. At 24, this rising photographer has made a name for himself in the Venezuela fashion/photography scene. His resume is built on work with local designers and he prides himself in working with emerging Venezuelan talent. “Being a somewhat conservative country and society, I’ve been able to demystify the male beauty and expose local talent by revealing their masculinity,” explained Velasquez. “Underwear is a tough topic to photograph as models are almost always uptight and is hard to have them relaxed and outgoing for the photo-sessions but I like the challenge and I’m up to it. The images speak for themselves”
In the slide show below you will find some of Velasquez’s best shots for Malebasics. He has provided incredible imagery for Malebasics’ Geometric collection and you can spot him in his zone during this [BTS] video post and see his full work for the collection’s campaign here. He also photographed the Malebasics’ Microfiber Performance range. Tweet @underwearexpert your thoughts about Velasquez’s work for Malebasics and what your favorite campaigns are.
