The Undy 5000, a 5k cancer benefit race, is returning to Denver, Colorado this weekend. Over 16 cities host the event, and this year’s Denver underwear run is it’s fourth consecutive. The race’s proceeds go towards colon cancer research.
“Last year, we had nearly 1,300 participants run, which included over 60 colon cancer survivors,” said Todd Setter, National Undy 5000 Event Director. “We know this year will shatter last year’s records, and we hope we have tons more survivors, since that’s what this event is all about, after all – early detection and surviving!”
The race was created in 2008 by Colon Cancer Alliance, the nation’s largest and oldest colon cancer advocacy organization. The CCA uses the race to stress the importance of timely colon cancer screenings, early detection, and provides support for those already affected by the disease.
The race will take place at 8:30am on Saturday, June 23rd, at City Park in Denver, Colorado; each participant receives a commemorative pair of Undy 5000 boxers.
