Item Reviewed: Bluebuck Ben Cohen Special Edition Brief

About the product: The Bluebuck is a full coverage brief made of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane with a 1.25″ soft waistband striped in turquoise and white with the Bluebuck stitched logo at the front. This brief is in solid turquoise with contrasting flat stitching in white thread.  The pouch is double layered fabric. The brief is made in Portugal. The Ben Cohen Special Edition is a collaboration between Ben Cohen’s charity, the StandUp Foundation and Bluebuck. Proceeds of the partnership will go towards the StandUp Foundation, an organization dedicated to combatting bullying, specifically the bullying of children who might be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

What we like: The cotton jersey is soft and with the addition of the elastane, wears gently like your favorite old t-shirt. The higher cut leg openings and lack of a rear seam avoid riding and the contoured pouch support allows these to be comfortable all day. The turquoise and white color scheme is understated, but the white stitching and embroidered logo keep it visually interesting. Bluebuck’s sustainability program uses organic cotton and renewable energy in the manufacturing process, which enhances the appeal of the brand.

What we don’t like: These briefs are great, but in summer heat or under heavy athletics, the cotton will not perform as well as a composite material moisture wicking brief.

When we’d wear them: Out for a weekend of camping and hiking.

Who we’d recommend them to: Men who aren’t fussy about fashion and enjoy an understated, comfortable pair of daily wearing briefs.

Describe these underwear in three words: Understated. Comfortable. Charitable.
