Zayn Underwear is an up-and-coming brand launched in 2013 and based in Australia. But where most brands make their entrance with a collection of basics and a fresh aesthetic, Zayn does them all one better. Founded by Jarryd Haefele, a 24-year-old graphic designer-turned-entrepreneur, Zayn’s underwear serves a purpose higher than fashion: fighting mental health disorders in Australia. Where other underwear brands have balls, Zayn has a heart.
Proceeds from each purchase of Zayn underwear go to beyondblue, a bipartisan initiative of the Australian government which takes “a public health approach” to mental illness. The nonprofit organization makes age-specific treatment plans more attainable, and works in multiple settings including workplaces, health services, and online.
beyondblue also combats mental illness on a deeper level by making information on depression, anxiety and related disorders more accessible. This fights the social stigma around mental health disorders which, in turn, encourages those suffering from them to seek help. Zayn’s partnership with beyondblue serves the same purpose – increasing awareness and reducing the stigma. This all in addition to providing you with something stylish and comfortable to wear. That’s why Zayn offers free shipping all across Australia. Purchasing a pair of Zayn underwear goes to a good cause… and flashing your new Zayn waistband encourages others to do the same.
Zayn’s taste in underwear is classic and casual – but not without modern cuts and pairs that play with slightly sporty designs. Zayn designs their briefs, hipsters, and boxer briefs entirely in Australia. Each is made from designer-quality cotton and spandex, and features a waistband with the brand’s handsome logo. But Zayn’s waistbands aren’t all the same. Some have the name repeating, some have it front and center. Others, like The Mod Hipster, have something more contemporary and asymmetrical. Matt Conrad models the pair in The Underwear Expert’s exclusive shoot below. Looking appropriately peaceful, Matt shows off The Mod Hipster along with all those muscles of his. But only those in-the-know will pick up on the humanitarianism emanating from his Zayn waistband.
Zayn Underwear is currently holding a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new site design. The deadline to pledge is Friday, May 29th.
