Who doesn’t want to shed some pounds with a new year? Maybe it’s a resolution, or a need to lose that extra holiday weight. Either way, Jason Wimberly’s mountain climber exercise is a great way to mix up your cardio routine, especially in the winter months. Like the most effective cardio exercises, the mountain climber is considered high-intensity interval training, or HIIT.
On rowing machines, ellipticals, and other cardio machines, you’ll notice intervals are always part of weight loss and performance pre-sets. This is because HIIT pushes your “anaerobic threshold,” which allows your body to burn calories more efficiently throughout the day.
The mountain climber is more than a cardio exercise though. By rapidly moving your legs, you will also work your core, triceps, shoulders, even your butt.
