In this Instagram video, we see gogreen2nd demonstrating two exercises with rings. He performs muscle-ups and forward rolls. Forward rolls are a rudimentary gymnastics move, and when combined with muscle ups help to add variation to your exercise routine. In the video, you can follow the progression that this trainer uses to perform both moves.
For forward rolls, you want to start with your hips pressing upward as you motion into the dip. At the bottom of the dip, your hands should be higher than your shoulders and the rings shouldn’t be far from your chest. Letting your head roll under is the next step and helps give you momentum. Then as your hips start to come down, muster your strength to perform a muscle-up.
