Our favorite Instagram cross-fit trainer is back doing muscle-ups, again. But there is always room for improvement when it comes to fitness, and for our trainer that means performing muscle-ups without kicking. When you perform a muscle-up with too much of a kick, you cheat your body out of results. The momentum essential makes it easier on your muscles, and that isn’t what you should be trying to do.
In order to practice this, try doing a simple pull-up, attempting to get your waist at the same level as the bar. This is what you are technically doing when performing a muscle-up, but with added stability. From that point, it is a matter of moving your wrists. It is close to impossible to perform a muscle-up without using your legs to give you a little momentum boost. But minimizing your swing will maximize your results.
Watch the video below to see our trainer perform a muscle-up with minimal use of his legs. If you’re one of those guys who includes muscle-ups in your gym routine, how much harder are then when trying not to use your legs? Let us know in the comments below, or by tweeting us @underwearexpert.
