GO Green Fit: Candlestick

If you want that sexy core you see on a lot of the models we feature, this is an exercise that will help get you there. Candlesticks are a killer, strength-testing exercise because it relies on not much else other than your body. To build strength, you want to be pushing yourself. This means more resistance, or more weight. Some trainers will recommend a weight that you can only manage 5 reps with, other 8. Either way, you want to be feeling sore when you’re done. That is how you know you actually worked out.

The candlestick exercise is a gymnastic move and requires a lot of strength. Think of them as the big brother to the sit-up. With a candlestick, you give yourself a lot more resistance to handle. In the Instagram video, you can see our go-to trainer performing candlestick exercises after a surgery. He does them 10 weeks out of a surgery. If you can manage, so can you.
