Goblet squats are one intense variation of a squat that will torture your quads in the best ways. In this Instagram video, our go-to crossfit trainer performs them with a 100 lb. dball, showing off just how muscular his thighs are. But the most important thing to take from this video is the trainer’s form. In spite of the heavy weight, his form is consistent and clean. If you cannot keep a proper form during a goblet squat, or any exercise for that matter, you are lifting too much.
Start by holding the dball close to your chest, and make sure you are gripping it comfortably and securely. This is your starting position, and from there you are ready to squat. You want to go low enough that your hamstrings are right there by your calves. Then you stand up, feel the burn, and squat down for another rep. While performing goblet squats, keep your head facing forward and your back straight.
How many reps can you do when performing goblet squats? Have you done goblet squats and felt them the next day with each step? Let us know in the comments below, or by tweeting us @underwearexpert.
