Opening this month’s GQ Magazine, The Underwear Expert was so happy to see men’s underwear finally get some recognition from a mass media print outlet.
The article, named “28 Reasons to Take Your Pants Off,” gives us just that — 28 reasons to invest in some great pairs of underwear. The feature covers the hottest color trend in underwear right now (red), the best pairs of undies to rock at the gym, and predicts that stripes will be in this season. As we read on from one reason to the next and saw some of our all time favorite brands represented, our excitement continued to boil over.
That’s right: Papi, our friends from the South — the hot, hot, town of Miami to be exact — got a moment in the spotlight for their striped pairs of underwear. When looking for new undies for the summer, consider Papi, because if they can stand the blazing Miami sun, they will work anywhere. They’re the underwear you want to be caught in when you simply can’t bare the heat anymore and have to strip down.
Our hometown friends 2xist also got a shout out for having the most gym friendly pairs of underwear. We’re not surprised by this since many of their lines are based around the art of sport and a fast-paced lifestyle. Check out their Pro and Stretch collections, which offer amazing support in and outside of the gym.
From abroad, Swedish underwear brand Bjorn Borg made the cut for their low-cut pairs of undies that still offer a functional fly. This style of underwear has been disappearing lately, but stand by the belief that Bjorn Borg continues to design great underwear, and they are doing it in the most comfortable way possible.
We can’t forget a few of our other favorite brands that made GQ’s editorial. Many of the high fashion underwear lines, such as Dsquared2, Michael Kors, Diesel, and the always classic Calvin Klein were recommended on a number of levels. It was good to see some newer brands receive some recognition as well. Keep your eyes out for Flint and Tinder, CR7 Cristiano Ronaldo, and Bread & Boxers.
