Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham’s collaboration with Australian underwear brand Funky Trunks continued to heat up this week as the affable athlete stripped off his own pair for a good cause. Matthew hosted the Closing Gala of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, strumming on his ukelele, performing his own rendition of Aqua’s hit ‘Barbie Girl,’ and yes, stripping down to his skivvies for a good cause.
As part of Matthew’s hosting duties he generously auctioned the Funky Trunks off his own bum to benefit Australian Marriage Equality. A shiny green bikini brief featuring a black animal print, the pair went for a cool $1,000. This hefty sum brought in by Matthew’s undies alone amounted to a quarter of the evening’s total proceeds—a pretty impressive feat, even for an Olympian.
Of professional athletes lending their talents to underwear brands, we have to say Matthew is among our favorites. His fun-loving, adventurous attitude is a perfect match for the playful Aussie brand.
See below for more photos of Matthew from the Melbourne event, where he caused quite a stir stripping down in the flesh. For more photos from the Matthew Mitcham Funky Trunks collaboration, check out our coverage here.
