While hot pink underwear was on fire last season, light shades of pink–as well as pink’s cousin fuchsia–have emerged as a stand-out color this season. Several underwear brands updated some of their best selling collections with light pink while others introduced new ranges showcasing this subdued, cheerful color. What gives, you ask? Isn’t light pink totally girly? No, actually. Pink underwear is great because it can complement any skin tone in addition to signaling that a man is self-assured of his masculinity, regardless of sexual orientation.
No other brand used various shades of pink more often this season than Andrew Christian. The brand delivered three different shades of pink to celebrate spring. The Andrew Christian Vivid Fuse and Tighty Whitie Punked ranges now feature bubble gum, a playful spin on light pink. The brand also updated its Almost Naked Show-It Technology collection with the addition of fuchsia while the Almost Naked collection now also features a lighter shade of pink.
C-IN2 debuted a cool blast of pink with the introduction of “pink burst” to its Prime collection. This light shade of pink complements this collection’s various styles. The Prime collection’s body matches the waistband, which includes the brand’s logo in a solid black print. The brand also introduced a light shade of pink called candy coated to its Pop Colors collection.
Fuchsia has become a popular color for the season due to the fact that it’s popular among men’s fashion. Papi observed this trend and updated its top-selling Ibiza 2-pack Brazilian trunks with a brilliant fuchsia plaid print. “Fuchsia [is a] very hot color for men’s sportswear right now so we decided this trend should carry to underwear as well,” said a design representative for Papi.
Emporio Armani added fuchsia to its Embossed Logo Waistband Stretch Cotton and Long Boxer Brief 2-pack collections since pink was well received among consumers last year, according to a sales official for the brand. This new shade provides a striking contrast to the wide, microfiber waistband that includes an embossed logo of the brand.
