In a new series called Un Homme et Une Femme by controversial photographer Terry Richardson for Vogue Hommes International, a pair of models square off in a sex-charged editorial for the magazine’s Fall/Winter issue. The series features Marlon Teixeira and Stephanie Seymour, who do more than just pose for Richardson’s lens. Teixeira wears two different pairs of underwear for the shoot. The first is a men’s lace teddy from Kiki de Montparnasse. It seems that the rising lace underwear for men trend, on which The Underwear Expert first reported, has not yet crested. The second pair is a white brief from Dolce & Gabbana.
The work of Terry Richardson for Vogue Hommes International is just one in a long line of Richardson pieces for popular fashion magazines. The photographer has also done work for Rolling Stone, GQ, Vogue (US), Vanity Fair, i-D, and Vice, some of which has created an outcry. His sexualized images have often drawn criticism and some models, such as Rie Rasmussen, have condemned his work as demeaning towards the people he photographs. In the face of such allegations, Richardson has been defended by the likes of Marc Jacobs and model Noot Seear.
This particular piece, which made the cover of the Paris issue, is perhaps less shocking than some of his more controversial efforts. Nevertheless, it is a fine example of classic skill from a veteran photographer who clearly still has a few things left to say to the fashion world.
