John Kenney by Joseph Lally is a new series from Soul Artist Management. Sporting long hair and weekend scruff, John Kenney refuses to break gaze with the camera. Eye-locking charm is one of the American model’s greatest strengths and photographer Joseph Lally capitalizes on it.
Kenney, who got his start after being a contestant on the reality series Survivor: Vanuatu, has appeared in several editorials for publications such as DNA Magazine. He was born in Connecticut and moved to Los Angeles in 2004. In Lally’s series, he wears a black brief with red trim against various backgrounds including a Microsoft Paint-style colored wall that was edited into the shot later.
Lally often uses creative editing techniques and props for his shoots. In Bang! for Yearbook Fanzine, the photographer played with reflection and and the shimmer of a giant bottle of Marc Jacobs Cologne. He also recently shot a series called The Things You Can Get Up to in New York City, featuring Tarik Lakehal.
