Photographer Troy Wise is quickly becoming a favorite. His strong work with Cary Farrow IV turned out to be just a prelude to a symphony of excellent model photos, much of which we will be bringing to you soon. Last week, we were proud to show off the Modern Hero shoot, which featured a beautiful Jonathan Ackley as the star of track and field. The photos were given a golden tint and they brought us nostalgic longings for high school sports. This week, Wise has given us a two-part series called “Wish You Were Here.” The first images of the series are below.
Wise is back with frequent collaborator, stylist Rick Guzman, and hair stylist Dominic Alonzo rounds out the team. The model in Wish You Were Here is wearing Cover Male swimwear and teamm8 swimwear. He relaxes on the beach, clearly enjoying himself–but longingly looking into the distance, wishing “you” were there. Much like in the Modern Hero series, Wise effectively conveys nostalgia and the bittersweet melancholy of being far away from everyone and everything. The gray beach and water emphasize the introspective loneliness of the model. Check back soon for the second part of Wise’s series.
