Dylan Hart: Hands Up

Everybody, get your hands in the air for this new shoot from Sean Higgins. The photographer created this series of model Dylan Hart standing  in a garden of disembodied mannequin hands while wearing Calvin Klein Underwear boxer briefs. Higgins conducted the shoot with assistant photographer Louise Riddiford and hair and makeup artist Luke Perger.

Sean Higgins’ photographs are mostly in black and white, another example of photographers choosing to let go of color for the sake of lighting and form when shooting models in Calvin Klein Underwear. Higgins does, however, highlight Dylan Hart’s boxer briefs later in the shoot by giving the model a bright red pair that stands out against the gray backdrop and pale hands. Higgins also plays with pseudo-symmetrical visuals by balancing right and left mannequin arms on either side of the model, and towards the end actually reflecting the entire image horizontally. The reflection is intentionally off, however, and the model has slightly different poses on either side of the final image.

We love it when a photographer isn’t afraid to get creative, and in this case it makes for a visually interesting experiment in geometry and light. What do you think of the series? And of Dylan Hart?
