Papi’s latest collection, Suave, introduces a unique finishing concept—peaching—on the fabric that offers a thin, suede leather feel on the skin. Hitting store shelves this weekend, Suave consists of a Brazilian and European trunk ($22) as well as a tank top ($28). “The concept of peaching the Micro-Polyester Spandex is something we have not seen in the market and so we developed the collection Suave, which literally means soft and sleek,” says Lucio De Carvalho, Vice President of Design for Papi.
Made from 88 % polyester and 12% spandex, the fabric is brushed on the inside to create a plush comfortable feeling, according to De Carvalho. The Micro-Polyester fabrics typically offer a soft feel on the skin. “But on Suave, we added one more step to make it even softer,” he adds. “We kept the outside of the garment as is so the colors are vibrant and the print is sharp.”
The trunks are offered in retro inspired colors and are available in shades of black, iron ore, rio, geisha red, sunset and cayo. “We also went back to our original Papi logo with the oval outline going around it,” says De Carvalho. The line is offered S-XL.
