The Look: Handsome, classic, substantial. This is a look that calls attention to itself by refraining from flash. It’s a smart move: the real draw here is the handfeel of the fabric, and the visual design reinforces it by not trying to outshine it. That is not to say that this is a trunk that doesn’t look good – on the contrary, its proportions are some of the best we’ve seen and the lines are some of the sleekest. The waistband is divided from the trunk with a thin white line, which provides a visible base for the trunk as a whole. The only thing we would change is the “touch” overlaid on the 2(x)ist stitching on the waistband – the small size of the letters and their contrasting hue makes the band seem overly cluttered for an otherwise minimalist trunk.
The Fit: Close but relaxed and also roomy, somehow. The nylon/spandex blend doesn’t cling but rather follows your body closely with every move. The legs ride up a little bit, but unobtrusively–a man with stronger quads might not even have this problem. The brushed microfiber is a pleasure to wear.
The Pouch: The fly-less pouch lifts and brings forward, and the position it gently forces you into actually allows more room than many briefs which cram everything down. The pouch is a small miracle: the addition of a little gusset foregrounds what’s in there without any constriction or discomfort, lifting and enhancing in the way that they claim. The package doesn’t lie.
The Construction: Extremely fine. The stitching is incredibly tight and small, and the fabrics utilized for this trunk are simply some of the best on market right now. The type of seams found on the legs, seat and waist are as deft as in the pouch – they’re small, tight and create a sort of structure for the whole trunk. 2(x)ist calls it a “robust, engineered fit” and we agree.
The Underwear Expert Opinion: Reach out and touch somebody’s Touch – you’ll need some for yourself. This is a pair we can wholeheartedly endorse. The cut, the feel, the look, the fit: it all goes to prove again why 2(x)ist is one of the best brands out there.
